Job summary

Perth & Kinross Council’s Methven Primary School Nursery is hiring a Play Assistant on a fixed-term basis until 31 December 2026. The role is 16 hours per week, term-time only, aligned with school days.

You will support a team of nursery professionals, help develop and deliver play and care experiences, and assist with lunchtime routines, safeguarding, and gentle lifting as required. Applicants must be registered with SSSC and work towards the relevant qualification.

Qualifications

• Excellent communication skills and ability to build strong relationships with children, families and colleagues alike.
• Some experience of working in a nursery environment is desirable.
• Register as a Support Worker with the SSSC and work towards the relevant qualification.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to the development, planning and implementation of play/care experiences within a nursery curriculum before, during and after lunchtime.
• Provide support to a busy nursery, assisting with lunchtime routines and general caring duties.
• Some lifting, including moving tables, chairs and trolleys to prepare for lunchtime activities.
