Job summary

sKids Woodlands Park is seeking an Assistant Programme Manager to help run mornings and afternoons for children at a Wellington-like site. The role offers morning 7am–8:30am and afternoon 2:30pm–6:00pm shifts, with potential holiday hours.

You’ll support the Programme Manager, lead sessions when needed, supervise groups, and help plan activities. Ideal candidates are experienced with children, able to lead when required, and comfortable guiding a team.

Qualifications

• Experience working with groups of children (e.g. OSCAR, childcare, coaching, teaching, camps, or similar).
• Confident stepping into a leadership role when needed with initiative and decision-making.
• Experience managing behaviour in group settings with calm, firm support.

Responsibilities

• Support the Programme Manager in day-to-day running of the sKids programme to ensure smooth operations.
• Step up as 2IC – lead sessions when the Programme Manager is away.
• Supervise and engage large groups of tamariki, ensuring a safe, inclusive, and fun environment.
• Assist in planning and delivering structured activities including arts & crafts, sports, games, and offsite trips.
• Support with managing challenging behaviour using positive guidance strategies.
• Help guide and support Programme Assistants on shift to ensure smooth activities.
• Build positive relationships with parents, caregivers, and school staff through clear communications.
• Assist with set-up, pack-down, and preparation of resources to ensure each session runs seamlessly.
