Job summary

Tiaki Wai seeks a Pipelines Fitter Welder to fabricate, fit and repair large-diameter steel pipelines for Wellington’s Bulk Water network. Based at the Pomare Depot, you’ll work across workshop and site environments, interpreting drawings and delivering precise pipe assemblies with high workmanship standards.

Applicants should hold a trade certificate in fitting/welding and a NZ Class 1 driver licence, with at least three years’ experience in large-diameter pipe fabrication.

Qualifications

• Trade certificate in fitting/welding with NZ Class 1 driver licence.
• At least 3 years’ experience fabricating, installing and repairing large-diameter steel pipes.
• Ability to interpret fabrication drawings and technical plans.
• Strong commitment to health and safety with relevant qualifications in areas like confined spaces or heights.

Responsibilities

• Fabricate, fit and repair large-diameter steel pipes and assemblies per drawings and specs.
• Interpret fabrication drawings, identify material requirements and determine cutting, welding and fitting methods.
• Maintain welding qualifications in line with Tiaki Wai procedures and ASME Section IX where applicable.
• Inspect and maintain welding/fabrication equipment and keep safe, accurate records.
• Follow health and safety requirements and collaborate to deliver quality outcomes within timeframes.
