Job summary

Health New Zealand - Te Whatu Ora Capital, Coast & Hutt Valley in Porirua is seeking an NZ Registered Physiotherapist to join the Older Adults and Rehabilitation Service on a full-time fixed-term contract until 30 January 2028. You will deliver person-centred rehabilitation in the community and work with a multidisciplinary team to maximise mobility and independence.

About the Role

We have an exciting opportunity for a passionate Physiotherapist to join our well-established and forward-thinking Older Adults and Rehabilitation Service in the community in a full time, fixed term role up until 30th January 2028.

We're looking for an experienced Physiotherapists who are motivated by public health, thrive in community-based practice, and are committed to delivering meaningful rehabilitation close to where people live.

Whether your strengths lie in acquired health conditions, frailty, neuro-rehabilitation, or vestibular assessment and treatment within a neuro outpatient setting, we can shape the role to reflect your skills and interests.

You'll work alongside older adults and people living with long-term conditions to help them achieve what matters most to them - maximising mobility, independence, and quality of life.

Your work will include:

• Compensatory strategies to support safe independence
• Collaborative goal-setting with patients and whānau

About the Team/Service Location

Based on the Kenepuru Hospital Campus, we are one of four community teams across the Capital Coast and Hutt Valley district. We are a well-established team with a strong culture of manaakitanga, co-working, shared clinical reasoning, and collaborative planning to achieve the best outcomes for our patients.

The ORA Community Services work with people aged 16 and above with acquired neurological, long term, or age-related conditions including stroke, dementia, and frailty and post trauma conditions. The teams are multidisciplinary including occupational therapy, physiotherapy, speech-language therapy, social work, dietetics, liaison nursing and allied health assistants, with close links with Nurse Practitioners, the AWHI (ESD) team, Geriatricians and the Rehab Physician.

About you

Our successful candidate will be an NZ Registered Physiotherapist with a current APC, drivers licence and have experience in working with acquired health conditions. You will have excellent communication and time-management skills, enjoy working within a team, and be able to develop positive relationships with a variety of hospital based and primary care professionals. Vestibular experience will be beneficial, but we can also support upskilling and training for the right applicant.

You will be keen to further develop your clinical reasoning skills and ability to identify and problem solve needs and risk. It will suit someone who likes to look at people's needs holistically and really listen to their concerns and is passionate about our ability to make a difference to people's lives.

Communication and organisational skills will be a strength of yours, as well as the ability to build relationships quickly and work well with direct colleagues, referrers, primary care, other providers, clients and their whanau.

You will need:

• New Zealand Registered clinician with at least 4 years clinical experience and a current APC
• A clear understanding of the health needs of our Māori and Pacific Island communities
• A current driver's licence
• A can-do attitude and a passion for working alongside people
• Working visa/NZ residence (as appropriate)
