Job summary

Awanui Balclutha is seeking a Trainee / Registered Phlebotomist to join the Patient Services team. This permanent, part-time role (30 hours per fortnight) provides hands-on experience in a busy collection centre, with some training in Dunedin.

Qualifications

• Experience or aptitude for handling patient interactions with care and professionalism.
• Attention to accuracy in specimen collection, labeling and transport.
• Willingness to learn and develop in a laboratory pre-analytical role.
• Eligibility to work in New Zealand and comply with safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Collect blood samples from patients in community and hospital settings.
• Handle biological specimens in accordance with safety and compliance standards.
• Ensure accurate labelling, handling and transport of specimens.
• Support processing and testing with Point of Care devices.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and high-quality care at all times.
