Job description

Kotahi is on a mission to help New Zealand businesses compete and thrive on the world stage. If you're an HR professional who enjoys being at the heart of the employee experience, loves keeping things organised, and is looking to further develop your generalist HR capability, this could be the perfect next step.

About Us – Kotahi

At Kotahi, we enable New Zealand businesses to win globally through best-in-class, digitally powered supply chain solutions. Kotahi means standing together as one, and our values of We Before I, Seek to Understand, Discover Opportunities, and Driven to Deliver guide how we work every day. We're proud of our inclusive culture, strong focus on wellbeing through our Hauora programme, and commitment to continuous improvement.

About the Opportunity

We're looking for a People Specialist to join our People team. Reporting to the Chief People Officer and working closely with an experienced People Business Partner, you'll play a key role in supporting our people processes, systems, and employee experience across the full employee lifecycle.

This is a varied generalist HR role with a strong operational focus. You'll be involved in everything from recruitment coordination, onboarding, employee documentation, HR systems and reporting through to benefits administration, culture initiatives, and employee support.

Working as part of a small, high-performing People team, you'll have exposure to a broad range of HR activities and the opportunity to partner closely with the People Business Partner on learning and development initiatives, employee relations matters, engagement programmes, and continuous improvement projects.

We're looking for someone who is highly organised, enjoys creating great employee experiences, and takes pride in delivering efficient, high-quality HR support while continuously looking for better ways of working.

About You

You're organised, proactive, and enjoy being the person others can rely on. You have strong attention to detail, are comfortable managing multiple priorities, and genuinely enjoy supporting people.

You’ll also bring:

  • Approximately 3-4 years' experience in a generalist HR, HR Coordinator, HR Advisor, or similar role.
  • A sound understanding of New Zealand employment legislation and HR best practice.
  • Experience maintaining HR systems, employee records, and people data.
  • Strong administrative and organisational skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • The ability to build trusted relationships with managers and employees at all levels.
  • A continuous improvement mindset and enthusiasm for finding better ways of working.
  • A tertiary qualification in Human Resources, Business, Organisational Psychology, or a related discipline.

Experience working in supply chain, logistics, or a related industry would be advantageous, but it isn't essential. What's more important is your willingness to learn, your customer-focused approach, and your desire to continue developing your HR career.

Why Join Kotahi?

You'll be supported with a competitive benefits package, including:

  • Flexible working, including up to two days from home each week.
  • Wellbeing leave and access to our Kotahi Hauora wellbeing platform.
  • Ongoing learning and development opportunities.
  • Additional leave purchase options.
  • Insurance, retail, and fuel discounts, plus a range of employee benefits.
Stand Together With Us

If you're looking for a role where you can build on your HR foundations, gain exposure to a broad range of people activities, and continue developing your advisory capability within a supportive and collaborative team, we'd love to hear from you.
