Job summary

Mercury NZ is seeking a People Insights Analyst to join our People Experience (PX) team. This role suits a self-starter with a stats or insights background who can turn workforce data into actionable decisions for the business.

You'll analyse data, build dashboards, and partner with stakeholders to deliver recurring and ad hoc analyses, driving data literacy across PX and informing leadership decisions.

Qualifications

• 2–3 years' experience in an analyst role (People Insights, Data, Business, Commercial or HR Analyst).
• Solid grounding in statistics or analytical techniques applied to business datasets.
• Confidence with SQL to extract, transform and analyse data from multiple sources.
• Experience with data visualisation tools such as Power BI, Tableau or OBIEE.

Responsibilities

• Analyse workforce and employee experience data to spot trends, risks and opportunities.
• Turn insights into practical recommendations for PX and business leaders.
• Apply statistical techniques to test ideas and uncover drivers.
• Build and maintain dashboards, reports and visualisations.

• Analysing workforce and employee experience data to spot trends, risks and opportunities — and turning that into clear, practical insights for PX and business leaders
• Applying analytical and statistical techniques to test ideas and uncover what's really driving the numbers
• Building and maintaining dashboards, reports and visualisations that make workforce data easy to understand and act on
• Extracting, validating and preparing data from HR systems (like PayGlobal and SnapHire) and other PX sources
• Partnering with stakeholders to understand their questions, shape the right analytical approach, and manage a portfolio of recurring and ad hoc work
• Helping lift data literacy across PX by explaining metrics, assumptions and limitations in plain language

Tāu ka kawe mai | What you'll bring:

• 2-3 years' experience in an analyst role (People Insights, Data, Business, Commercial or HR Analyst)
• A solid grounding in statistics or analytical techniques, applied to real business or workforce datasets
• Confidence with SQL to extract, transform and analyse data from multiple sources
• Experience with data visualisation tools such as Power BI, Tableau or OBIEE
• Strong Excel, PowerPoint and Word skills
• A self-starter mindset — happy to take ownership, prioritise your own portfolio of work, and bring a bit of curiosity to how things could be done better
• A trustworthy, discreet approach to handling confidential people data
• HR or people-data experience is a bonus, not a must-have — we're just as interested in your analytical thinking
