Job summary

The Environmental Protection Authority in Wellington is seeking a People and Capability Coordinator. Qualifications

  • Experience in administration, coordination, human resources, recruitment, payroll, learning and development, health and safety, or a related field.
  • Strong organisational skills with ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and stakeholder engagement.
  • Experience with HRIS or payroll systems would be an advantage.

The Corporate Services Group works in close partnership with the wider business to lead, support, and enable the EPA to achieve its strategic intentions and effectively and efficiently deliver its core functions.

There are five key functions within the Corporate Services Group. These are: Information Management and Technology, Finance and Business Services, People and Capability, Communications and Customer and Enterprise Projects.

People and Capability leads and delivers programmes of work, policies, and processes that support the EPA’s strategic objectives and underpin organisational capability, capacity, and culture. The function oversees and manages the EPA’s approach to recruitment, learning and development, employment relations, remuneration, performance management, and health and safety

About the role | Mō te tūnga

This role is based in our Wellington office. While we're happy to consider work-from-home arrangements, this role is not designed for full-time remote working.

As our People and Capability Coordinator, you'll play a key role in delivering high-quality people services that support employees throughout their employment journey. Working as part of a collaborative People and Capability team, you'll coordinate a wide range of activities including recruitment, onboarding and offboarding, learning and development, payroll administration, and health, safety and wellbeing initiatives.

This is a varied and fast-paced role where you'll work closely with employees, people leaders, and external providers, while maintaining people systems, coordinating programmes and events, producing reports, and helping deliver projects that enhance organisational capability and employee experience

About you | Mōhou ake

We are looking for someone with a range of skills and experience – if you have some or all of the below, we would love to hear from you.

Experience in administration, coordination, human resources, recruitment, payroll, learning and development, health and safety, or a related field.

Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.

Strong attention to detail and confidence working with systems, data, and reports.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

A proactive, customer-focused approach and commitment to delivering high-quality service.

Strong relationship-building skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of stakeholders.

Comfortable working both independently and as part of a collaborative team.

Enthusiastic about learning and developing a career in People and Capability.

Experience with HRIS or payroll systems and/or a relevant HR or Health and Safety qualification would be an advantage

This is the full salary range of the band, from 80% - 120%. Appointments will generally be made at or below the midpoint of this range, depending on skills and experience.
