Job summary

Whānau Āwhina Plunket in Wellington is seeking an experienced Payroll Leader to guide a small team of three Payroll Advisors. The role is permanent full-time with hybrid options and involves overseeing our fortnightly payroll for about 1,100 kaimahi, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.

You will drive process improvements, deliver reporting to support Finance and leadership decisions, handle escalations on complex payroll matters, and partner with Finance and HR to support the wider organisation.

Responsibilities

• Oversee our fortnightly payroll, coordinating the workload of three Payroll Advisors and approving each pay run to ensure 1,100 kaimahi are paid accurately and on time.
• Lead process improvements to increase efficiency and consistency, provide analysis and reporting to support Finance and leadership decisions.
• Manage escalations involving complex payroll matters.
• Foster a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration, and accountability while empowering the team to partner with managers and employees.
