Job summary

Health New Zealand is seeking an experienced Payroll Support Lead to manage a team of eight payroll professionals and ensure accurate, timely, and compliant payroll operations within a large, complex organisation.

You will lead payroll specialists and administrators, oversee reconciliations, transfers, leave payments, and IR filings, while maintaining controls and driving process improvements across the payroll function.

Qualifications

• Extensive people leadership and team management experience.
• Minimum 10 years of New Zealand payroll experience.
• At least 5 years of experience in a large, complex payroll environment.
• Strong knowledge of New Zealand payroll legislation, including Holidays Act, ERA, Wages Protection Act, Parental Leave Act, and KiwiSaver.
• Proven experience in payroll compliance, quality assurance, and continuous improvement.
• Excellent communication, stakeholder management and problem-solving skills.
• Healthcare sector experience and AMS Leader or UKG Dimensions knowledge are advantages.
