Job summary

Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora in Waikato is seeking a Payroll Administrator to deliver timely, accurate payroll services to our Waikato staff in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.

You will support end-to-end payroll processes, ensure compliance with HR and payroll legislation, and work within the Payroll Team to meet deadlines. Experience with electronic payroll systems and a solid Excel/Word capability are preferred.

Qualifications

  • NCEA level 3 or equivalent required or demonstrated work experience.
  • At least 1 year of electronic payroll systems experience in a large organisation.
  • Understanding of HR and payroll legislation as it applies to health services.
  • Knowledge of collective and individual employment contracts is an advantage.
  • Strong Excel and Word skills; proficient with general Office tools.
  • PeopleSoft and OneStaff experience is advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Provide timely and accurate payroll processing for Health NZ employees in Waikato.
  • Handle high-volume payroll tasks within the Payroll Team and meet deadlines.
  • Ensure compliance with HR/payroll legislation and contracts.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to optimise payroll processes and data integrity.

About the Role

As a Payroll Administrator, you will be providing a timely and efficient, high-quality payroll service to employees of Health New Zealand, Waikato. This is an exciting, wide-ranging role in a fast-paced, high-volume environment, where you'll be responsible for a variety of tasks within the Payroll Team.

Youll have the chance to demonstrate your skills in analysis, time and task management, as well as your attention to detail and accuracy.

The salary for this position will be based on experience and in line with the PSA National Health Administration Workers Collective Agreement. Additional benefits include kiwisaver contributions (if eligible), professional development and wellness support.

About you

As a Payroll Administrator, you will have:

  • NCEA level 3 or relevant work experience
  • At least 1 years experience in working with electronic payroll systems and processes, preferably in a large organisation (1000+ employees).
  • An understanding of human resource and payroll related legislation as it applies to the Health Service.
  • An understanding of collective and individual employment contracts
  • A high level of computer skills and use of Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Word
  • PeopleSoft and OneStaff experience is advantageous
