Job summary

Persol in Otago, New Zealand, is seeking a detail-oriented operations support specialist to assist with administrative, operational and customer service tasks within the hospital kitchen environment.

You will manage diet control administration, handle calls, generate meal summaries, support the kitchen team, and help ensure accurate meal loading and stock control. Relevant food-safety certification and IT skills are preferred.

Qualifications

• NITEC or Diploma in Food Science/Nutrition preferred.
• WSQ Food Safety Level 1 certificate required or preferred.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

• Manage diet control administration and patient meal-related matters.
• Handle telephone calls, enquiries and feedback and relay messages to relevant departments.
• Collate and update meal data for kitchen production summaries.
• Generate daily meal summaries from the meal ordering system and distribute to kitchen sections.
• Create patient meal chits from the ordering system for kitchen use.
• Assist kitchen team during meal assembly and ensure accurate loading of meals.
• Requisition and manage office supplies within the department.
• Receive, issue and perform stock takes of assigned items under guidelines.
• Organise and transport goods from stores to departments as required.
• Conduct patient meal satisfaction surveys to support service improvements.
