Job summary

• Experience as a Parts Interpreter in automotive dealership or parts environment is required.
• Strong knowledge of automotive parts and workshop operations is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Interpret and identify automotive parts using manufacturer catalogues, OEM systems and manuals.
• Support retail and wholesale customers with parts enquiries, quotes and orders.
• Pick, pack and supply parts in line with RO requirements with high accuracy.
• Receive, check and process deliveries; escalate shortages or damaged stock.
• Assist with inventory management including stock takes and keeping stock records.
• Pre-order and prepare required parts ahead of service and repair work.
• Process customer payments and ensure invoices are accurate and timely.
• Build strong relationships with customers, suppliers and internal teams.
• Ensure work complies with Inchcape policies, quality standards and safety requirements.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and customer satisfaction.

About the Role

We have an exciting 3-6 month fixed term contract opportunity for an experienced Parts Interpreter to join the team at Inchcape NZ Automotive Retail in Henderson.

This role is responsible for supporting both the retail and wholesale parts operations by accurately identifying, sourcing, ordering, and supplying parts while ensuring excellent service is delivered to internal and external customers. Working closely with the Service Advisor, Technicians, Workshop Controller, and customers, you will play a key role in maintaining efficient workshop operations and delivering a seamless customer experience.

This opportunity would suit someone with strong automotive parts knowledge who enjoys working in a fast-paced dealership environment and takes pride in delivering outstanding customer service and attention to detail.

You Will:

• Accurately interpret and identify automotive parts using manufacturer catalogues, OEM systems, and parts manuals.
• Support retail and wholesale customers with parts enquiries, quotations, and order fulfilment.
• Pick, pack, and supply parts in line with Repair Order (RO) requirements while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
• Receive, check, and process incoming parts deliveries, ensuring any shortages or damaged stock are escalated promptly.
• Assist with inventory management activities, including stock takes and maintaining accurate stock records.
• Pre-order and prepare required parts ahead of service and repair work to support workshop productivity.
• Process customer payments and ensure invoices are completed accurately and efficiently.
• Build strong working relationships with customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.
• Ensure all work is completed in accordance with Inchcape policies, quality standards, and health and safety requirements.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that enhance operational efficiency and customer satisfaction.

About You

• Previous experience working as a Parts Interpreter within an automotive dealership or parts environment.
• Strong knowledge of automotive parts and workshop operations.
• Experience working in a fast-paced environment with the ability to manage competing priorities.
• Excellent attention to detail and strong organisational skills.
• A customer-focused approach with strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
• Current unrestricted driver's licence with a good driving record.
• Previous customer service or sales experience is advantageous.
