Job summary

New Zealand Maritime Museum is seeking a part-time Volunteer Co-ordinator (32 hours per week) to oversee and develop the museum’s volunteer programme in Auckland’s CBD. You’ll recruit, induct, train and manage Volunteer Guides and Hosts, and contribute to the volunteer newsletter and engagement activities.

Flexibility is required for occasional evenings, holidays and weekends. This permanent role supports a diverse team and contributes to New Zealand’s maritime story, with KiwiSaver and other

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience managing and coordinating large numbers of people, preferably volunteers.
• Strong organisational skills and ability to multitask, with autonomy.
• Outstanding communication and warm, approachable manner.
• Experience in recruiting and training people; knowledge of volunteer management best practices.

Responsibilities

• Oversee volunteer recruitment, induction, training, development and day-to-day management of Volunteer Guides and Hosts.
• Coordinate ongoing delivery and development of the museum’s volunteer programme.
• Support volunteer engagement activities, including the volunteer newsletter.
• Contribute to visitor experience through volunteer services.
