Job summary

Waimate District Council is seeking a Three Waters Compliance Lead for a part-time, school-hours role in Waimate. The successful candidate will oversee compliance across drinking water, wastewater and stormwater, ensuring obligations are met and reporting is timely and accurate.

You will interpret regulations, manage timeframes, analyse compliance data and build strong relationships with regulators and stakeholders. The role requires NZ work rights and a current driver license.

Qualifications

• Experience in a compliance setting and ability to interpret legislation.
• Experience managing reporting timeframes and producing clear, accurate reports.
• Strong analytical skills and data handling capability.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities.

Responsibilities

• Monitor compliance requirements for drinking water, wastewater, stormwater, and consents.
• Ensure resource consents are in place and support new consent applications.
• Lead regulatory and environmental performance reporting to Taumata Arowai and Environment Canterbury.
• Audit data, analyse trends, and support accurate reporting with the Three Waters Systems Lead.
• Maintain compliance programmes within Water Safety Plans and coordinate responses.
• Contribute to compliance strategy, audits and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Provide practical compliance advice and build internal and external relationships.
• Advise on three waters compliance and assist Communications with public info and media releases.
