Job summary

TAPAC in Auckland is seeking a Senior Venue Technician to oversee the technical coordination and delivery of performances, productions and events. The role includes 10 hours per week dedicated to coordination, maintenance and admin, with additional shifts available as required.

You will lead the technical team, support visiting productions from planning through to performance, and ensure safety and high standards across all venues.

Qualifications

• Experience working in a theatre, performing arts venue or live event environment.
• Understanding of health and safety practices in a performance setting.
• Ability to communicate professionally with hirers and crew.
• Strong time management and organisational skills.
• Proactive, solutions-focused with independent working capability.
• Ability to lead and support other technicians.
• Commitment to high standards in technical delivery and venue upkeep.

Responsibilities

• Schedule technicians for visiting productions using Deputy, ensuring coverage.
• Act as main technical contact for TAPAC staff and hirers and provide production advice.
• Run production meetings and prepare technical briefs ahead of performances.
• Maintain technical and health and safety documentation.
• Advise on equipment purchases, hire needs and maintenance plans.
• Undertake weekly/monthly maintenance of theatre and studio gear.
• Keep theatre and back-stage areas clean, safe and well organised.
• Support TAPAC safety and operating procedures across the team.
• Induct and train new technicians and provide ongoing support.
• Support additional performance shifts as productions require.
