Job summary

Far North District Council is seeking a Museum Collections Specialist to join Te Ahu Museum & Archives in a 0.60 FTE position (24 hours per week). You will care for, document, preserve and enable access to taonga and collections, working with the Curator to support research, exhibitions, loans and public programmes.

Essential requirements include a Museum diploma or relevant degree, 3–5 years in the GLAM sector, Vernon CMS knowledge, Te Tiriti understanding, tikanga Māori engagement, and a NZ

Qualifications

• Museum diploma or other relevant degree.
• 3–5 years of experience in the GLAM sector.
• Knowledge of Vernon CMS and cataloguing.

Responsibilities

• Preserve and care for archive, heritage and museum collections.
• Create, maintain and enhance collection records within Vernon CMS.
• Support acquisitions, accessioning and collection development.
• Facilitate access to collections for community, visitors and researchers.
• Assist with incoming/outgoing collection loans.
• Prepare objects and collection info for exhibitions/public programmes.
• Support volunteers and others in collection spaces.
• Contribute to stewardship of the Far North’s significant cultural collection.
