Job summary

Cordis, Auckland is seeking a full-time Painter/Decorator to maintain and refresh interior and exterior finishes across the hotel. You will work with plastering, wall coverings, furniture refurbishment and ceiling repairs to uphold our luxury standard.

The role requires attention to detail, independence, and the ability to collaborate with the Engineering team and contractors; weekend roster capability and strict health and safety practices are essential.

Responsibilities

• Completing interior painting and plastering across walls, ceilings, floors and hotel areas.
• Carrying out exterior painting and plastering on external walls and structures.
• Preparing surfaces and maintaining high-quality finishes.
• Repairing damaged walls and wall coverings.
• Replacing wall coverings in project areas as required.
• Maintaining painted ceilings and minor textured surface repairs.
• Supporting furniture refurbishment, including dismantling and recoat work.
• Completing limited sign-writing and markings as needed.
• Assisting with general repairs and maintenance throughout the hotel.
• Carrying out planned preventative maintenance.
• Keeping accurate daily records of completed work.
• Coordinating materials, equipment and PPE for upcoming work.
• Maintaining a clean, safe work area and supervising external contractors when required.
• Supporting wider Engineering team with additional tasks.

Painter | Permanent Full Time | 40 hours a week | Monday to Sunday morning shift and evening shift

At Cordis, Auckland, creating memorable guest experiences is at the heart of what we do. Every detail matters, and the presentation and upkeep of our hotel plays a big part in creating the standard our guests expect.Our Engineering team works behind the scenes to keep the hotel safe, functional and looking its best. We are now looking for a Full-Time Painter / Decorator to join the team and take responsibility for painting, decorating, refurbishment and general maintenance work throughout the property.

The role covers much more than simply applying a fresh coat of paint. You’ll work across interior and exterior areas, wall coverings, furniture refurbishment, plastering, ceiling repairs and other general maintenance tasks as required.

Some of your key responsibilities will include:

• Completing interior painting and plastering across walls, ceilings, floors, fittings and other hotel areas
• Carrying out exterior painting and plastering, including external walls, pillars, pool areas and roofs
• Preparing surfaces and completing painting work to a high standard
• Repairing damaged walls and wall coverings
• Replacing wall coverings in project areas when required
• Maintaining painted ceilings and completing minor repairs to textured surfaces
• Supporting furniture renovation and refurbishment, including dismantling, stripping, recoating and looking after upholstery where required
• Completing limited sign-writing, including directional and control markings
• Assisting with general repairs and maintenance throughout the hotel
• Carrying out planned preventative maintenance
• Keeping accurate daily records of completed work
• Coordinating materials, equipment and PPE required for upcoming work
• Maintaining a clean, tidy and safe work area
• Working with and supervising external contractors when required
• Supporting the wider Engineering team with additional tasks when needed

What we’re looking for

We’re looking for someone who takes genuine pride in their workmanship and understands that small details can make a big difference to the overall presentation of a luxury hotel.

You’ll be comfortable managing your own workload and working independently, while also being happy to jump in and support the wider Engineering team.

You’ll ideally bring:
