Job summary

Christchurch Produce Packhouse is seeking an experienced Packhouse Team Member to join our Christchurch operation. You will process, pack, grade, label, and handle fresh produce in line with our standards and food safety requirements, contributing to product quality and daily targets.

You will work to production schedules, maintain cleanliness, complete records, operate equipment safely, and support the team in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a packhouse, food production, warehouse, or similar environment preferred.
  • Basic MS Office skills and ability to maintain documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out produce cutting, packing, grading, labelling, and handling duties.
  • Ensure packing meets customer specs and company standards.
  • Check labels, packaging, and contents for accuracy and quality.
  • Work to daily production schedules and targets.
  • Maintain cleanliness and hygiene in work areas.
  • Complete cleaning records and required documentation on time.
  • Operate equipment safely with proper training and authorisation.
  • Follow quality, food safety, health and safety, and regulatory requirements.
  • Identify and report hazards or quality issues.
  • Participate in training and development as required.
  • Support team members and contribute to a positive team environment.
  • Undertake other duties as directed by management.

Job description

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Packhouse Team Member to join our Christchurch Produce Packhouse team.

About the Role

The role involves processing, packing, grading, labelling, and handling fresh produce in line with company standards, customer requirements, and food safety requirements. You'll contribute to product quality, production targets, workplace safety, and the smooth day-to-day operation of the packhouse.

What You'll Do

Carry out produce cutting, packing, grading, labelling, and handling duties as required.

Ensure produce is processed and packed accurately to customer specifications and company standards.

Check product labels, packaging, and contents are correctly matched and meet quality requirements.

Work to daily production schedules and operational targets.

Maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards within designated work areas.

Complete cleaning records and other required documentation accurately and on time.

Operate equipment and machinery safely following appropriate training and authorisation.

Follow all quality, food safety, health and safety, and regulatory requirements.

Identify and report hazards, incidents, equipment issues, product quality concerns, or food safety risks.

Participate in training and development as required.

Support team members and contribute to a positive team environment.

Undertake other reasonable duties as directed by management.

What You'll Bring

Previous experience in a packhouse, food production, warehouse, or similar environment is preferred.

Basic MS Office skills.

Experience working to production schedules and deadlines.

Strong attention to detail and commitment to product quality.

Ability to work in a fast-paced and physically demanding environment.

Good written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to follow procedures and maintain accurate documentation.

Reliable, positive, and able to work well as part of a team.

Understanding of HACCP and health and safety requirements is an advantage.

Forklift and electric jiffy lift experience is preferred but not essential - training and licensing can be provided.

Flexibility to work rostered shifts, including weekends, as required.
