Job summary

Opal in Tauranga is seeking a trade-qualified technician to join our machine systems team. Your role is to maintain, repair and retool plant and equipment at customer sites, focusing on safety and production uptime.

You will work in a team with rotating call-outs and shifts during peak seasons, using your hydraulic, electrical or pneumatic skills, and liaising with the service team to deliver reliable results.

Qualifications

• Trade qualified technician with electrical, hydraulic or pneumatic experience.
• Ability to perform preventative maintenance and troubleshoot equipment.
• Strong commitment to Health & Safety and quality standards.
• Team player with good communication and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Maintain, repair and retool plant and equipment to manufacturer specs.
• Perform preventative maintenance tasks to maximise uptime.
• Work as part of a team and also independently when required.
• Participate in rotating call outs and shifts during peak seasons.

We have an exciting opportunity for a trade qualified technician to join our team of machine systems technicians. This is a full-time permanent role based in Tauranga.

The main objective of the role is to maintain, repair and retool plant and equipment in accordance with manufacturer recommendations, with a focus on upholding safety and maximising production at our customer's sites. To be successful, you need to have the following:

• Strong trade qualified skills (hydraulic, electrical, or pneumatic experience advantageous)
• Good fitting, fabrication and troubleshooting skills
• Ability to effectively perform preventative maintenance tasks
• You enjoy being part of a team environment, but have ability to work unsupervised
• Strong attention to detail and communication skills (written and oral)
• Customer service focussed
• Robust problem-solving skills
• Flexibility, initiative, and proactive
• Participate in rotating call out and shifts during times of peak seasonal demand and as required
• An uncompromising attitude towards Health & Safety
• Limited or full electrical licences desirable
• Fibre Packaging or production machinery knowledge advantageous
