Job summary

New World Te Atatu in Auckland is seeking an experienced Overnight Store Manager to lead the night team from 9:00pm to 7:00am. You’ll take over from the afternoon Duty Manager and ensure safe, efficient operations and a high standard of presentation.

Supported by your 2IC, you will allocate work, oversee nightfill, bakery and deli prep, coord cleaners, and leave the store ready for the morning team and customers to trade.

Qualifications

• Experienced night shift leader who enjoys taking charge.
• Has worked nights before, knows how to lead a team and leaves the store in good shape for the morning team and customers.
• Supported by your 2IC, you’ll be the senior person overnight, ensuring everything is done safely, efficiently and to a high standard.

Responsibilities

• Lead overnight operation from 9:00pm to 7:00am.
• Allocate work and keep the team moving to finish the night strongly.
• Oversee grocery nightfill, chilled/frozen replenishment, bakery production and deli preparation, with the deli team led by yourself.
• Oversee cleaning, presentation and store readiness for morning trade.
• Ensure health, safety and food safety standards are maintained.

Overnight Store Manager – Night Team

New World Te Atatu | Auckland

9:00pm – 7:00am | Overnight position

Are you an experienced night shift leader who enjoys taking charge?

We’re looking for a reliable, experienced and hardworking Overnight Manager to lead our night team at New World Te Atatu.

This is a great opportunity for someone who has worked nights before, knows how to lead a team, and takes pride in leaving a store looking fantastic for the morning team and our customers.

Supported by your 2IC, you’ll be the senior person in the building overnight, responsible for making sure everything gets done safely, efficiently and to a high standard.

What you'll be running

From 9:00pm, you'll take over from the afternoon Duty Manager and lead the overnight operation through until 7:00am.

Your team will cover:

• Grocery nightfill and replenishment
• Chilled and frozen replenishment
• Bakery production (you dont need to know anything about a bakery, just be in the building whike the bakers are baking)
• Deli production, including a chef preparing fresh food (again you are the store manager, you wont be working in the deli)
• Potentially fresh produce preparation, including cut fruit
• Cleaning, presentation and getting the store ready for the morning (you have a team on cleaners onsite that you need to oversee alongside the cleaning manager)

You'll be responsible for allocating the work, keeping everyone moving and making sure the team finishes the night strongly.

We're looking for a leader

Someone who is calm under pressure, treats people well, sets clear expectations and isn't afraid to get stuck in when the team needs a hand.

You'll need to be:

• A strong and experienced people leader
• Experienced working overnight or nightfill shifts
• Organised and able to prioritise
• Reliable and dependable
• Confident making decisions on your own
• Comfortable managing a diverse team
• Strong on health & safety and food safety
• Good at communicating and giving clear direction
• Physically and mentally comfortable working 9:00pm–7:00am
• Someone who takes pride in standards and presentation

New Zealand experience isn't essential

If you're new to New Zealand but have strong supermarket, retail or hospitality leadership experience overseas, we'd love to hear from you.
