Job summary

Orion Group in Christchurch is seeking a Technical Engineer (Lines) to support overhead networks from low voltage distribution through to 66 kV. You’ll contribute to safe, reliable network decisions and work with experienced teams to design, construct, maintain and improve assets.

You’ll bring a solid foundation in overhead networks, a curious mindset and willingness to learn. Experience in electricity networks and exposure to standards and lifecycle planning would be advantageous.

Qualifications

• Solid foundation in overhead networks and ability to apply practical thinking to technical problems.
• Experience in electricity networks with exposure to overhead line design, construction, operation or maintenance would be an advantage.
• Knowledge of standards such as AS/NZS 7000 or NZECP 34 is beneficial but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Solve problems and support engineering decisions for overhead assets.
• Involve in design, construction, maintenance and improvement of overhead assets.
• Build knowledge of standards and practices guiding network management.
• Investigate asset issues and failures and identify practical improvements.
• Use asset information to inform maintenance and replacement decisions.
• Collaborate with internal teams, contractors, and suppliers to find safe solutions.
• Gain exposure to new equipment and technologies to improve the network.
