Job summary

Nelson Hospital is seeking a dedicated Orthopaedic Surgeon to join our collaborative team. You will provide patient-centred care across trauma and elective cases and perform surgical procedures with a strong focus on patient safety.

You will work with multidisciplinary teams to develop individualised care plans, contribute to quality improvement, and mentor junior doctors and medical students. Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of Surgeons or equivalent is required, with eligibility for

Qualifications

Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of Surgeons or equivalent.
Eligible for an Annual Practising Certificate with a vocational scope of Orthopaedic Surgery with the Medical Council of New Zealand.
Proven expertise in trauma and elective orthopaedic procedures.
Sub-speciality interest in lower limb arthroplasty (preferred) and hand & wrist surgery is an advantage.

Responsibilities

Provide patient-centred care across consultation, diagnosis, and treatment for trauma and elective cases.
Perform surgical procedures with a strong focus on patient safety.
Participate in the on-call roster and manage acute orthopaedic emergencies.
Work with multidisciplinary teams to deliver individualised care plans and contribute to quality improvement.
Teach and mentor junior doctors, medical students, and the wider MDT.
