Job summary

Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora in Nelson is seeking an Orthopaedic Surgeon to provide patient-centred care across consultation, diagnosis, and treatment for trauma and elective cases. The role involves performing surgical procedures with emphasis on safety and participating in the on-call roster.

Qualifications

• Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of Surgeons or equivalent.
• Eligible for an Annual Practising Certificate with a vocational scope of Orthopaedic Surgery with the Medical Council of New Zealand.
• Proven expertise in both trauma and elective orthopaedic procedures.
• Sub-speciality interest in lower limb arthroplasty (preferred) and hand & wrist surgery (advantage).

Responsibilities

• Provide patient-centred care across consultation, diagnosis, and treatment.
• Perform surgical procedures with a focus on patient safety.
• Participate in the on-call roster for acute orthopaedic emergencies.
• Work with multidisciplinary teams to develop care plans and mentor junior staff.
