Job summary

Transpower New Zealand seeks an Oracle HCM Systems Specialist to act as internal functional expert for Oracle Cloud HCM modules. You’ll ensure stability, security and fit-for-purpose operations across HR systems, collaborating with Payroll, Finance and IST to translate business needs into practical solutions.

You’ll drive configuration, upgrades and knowledge sharing while building capability across the People team to support employees and leaders nationwide.

Qualifications

• Substantial experience administering, configuring or supporting Oracle Cloud HCM in production.
• Translate business requirements into controlled configuration outcomes and resolve issues.
• Experience across HR lifecycle processes, payroll, absence, and position management.
• Ability to communicate clearly and manage competing priorities independently.
• Experience with data quality, privacy, security and HRIS reporting.

About The Opportunity

As our Oracle HCM Systems Specialist, you’ll be Transpower’s internal functional specialist for agreed Oracle Cloud Human Capital Management modules. You’ll help keep our HCM environment stable, secure and fit for purpose through day-to-day administration, functional support, controlled change and continuous improvement.

Working across the People team and with Payroll, Finance, IST, other Oracle specialists and external partners, you’ll translate approved business requirements into practical, sustainable solutions. You’ll independently deliver standard and lower-risk functional work and coordinate specialists for complex configuration, integrations and major upgrades, ensuring knowledge is retained within Transpower.

You’ll work with diverse stakeholders, influence how our HCM capability evolves and help create dependable, intuitive People systems that support employees and leaders across Transpower.

What You’ll Do

• Provide functional support across agreed Oracle HCM modules and employee lifecycle processes, resolving issues involving configuration, data, security, integrations and user understanding.
• Configure and maintain workflows, approvals, journeys, eligibility rules, notifications, lookups, templates and business rules within agreed controls.
• Assess enhancement requests and deliver simple, sustainable solutions using standard Oracle functionality wherever practical.
• Manage functional changes and quarterly updates through impact assessment, approval, regression and user acceptance testing, release and post-implementation checks.
• Support data quality, reporting, extracts, approved data loads, access administration and Fast Formula, while building internal capability through clear documentation and knowledge sharing.

What will you bring?

You’ll bring substantial experience administering, configuring or supporting Oracle Cloud HCM—or a comparable enterprise HRIS—in a production environment, with depth across several relevant functional areas. You’ll be confident translating business requirements into controlled configuration outcomes and resolving issues across systems, data, security, integrations and business processes. Analytical and collaborative, you’ll exercise good judgement, work accurately and deliver at pace.

Your CV and cover letter will demonstrate

• A relevant tertiary qualification in HR, information systems, business, technology or a related field. Whilst not essential - Oracle Cloud HCM certification in one or more relevant functional areas or formal training in Oracle Cloud HCM administration, configuration or reporting is a plus!
• Experience in requirements analysis, impact assessment, testing, implementation and post-release support.
• A sound understanding of HR and employee lifecycle processes, including payroll, absence, position management and related business rules.
• Working knowledge of Oracle Fast Formula, including reading and troubleshooting formulas and making documented, lower-risk changes.
• Knowledge of data quality, privacy, security, access management and system governance, plus competence in HRIS reporting, data extracts, analysis and Microsoft Excel.
• The ability to explain technical concepts clearly, build positive relationships and manage competing priorities independently.

Experience with Oracle Learning, Talent, Performance, Compensation, Recruitment, Absence, Time and Labour or Workforce Scheduling would be advantageous. We’d also value exposure to HDL, HCM Extracts, OTBI, BI Publisher, Oracle security roles, Areas of Responsibility or quarterly releases.
