Job description

About the role

We are looking for a Fresh Produce Optimisation Analyst Intern to join our Fresh Merchandise team and help deliver reporting and insights across our Produce and Meat categories. In this role, you'll work alongside experienced analysts and business stakeholders to develop reporting solutions, analyse data, and support decision-making that helps improve business performance across our fresh categories. You'll gain hands-on experience with Power BI, stakeholder engagement, and real-world analytics projects.

Key responsibilities:
  • Support the development, testing, and maintenance of Power BI reports and dashboards.
  • Work with stakeholders to understand and document reporting requirements, business questions, and success measures.
  • Analyse reporting outputs to identify trends, opportunities, and data quality insights.
  • Create and maintain documentation including report definitions, calculations, processes, and user guidance.
  • Validate data and reporting outputs with users to ensure accuracy and support continuous improvement.
  • Assist with seasonal and priority reporting initiatives across the Fresh Merchandise team.
About you:

You're curious, analytical, and enjoy turning data into meaningful insights. You communicate confidently, ask thoughtful questions, and can translate information into clear and practical solutions for different audiences. You're currently studying towards, or have recently completed, a qualification in Business Analytics, Information Systems, Data Science, Commerce, or a related discipline. Experience with Excel is essential, and exposure to Power BI, data modelling, or reporting tools would be an advantage.

Our internship programme offers
  • 12-weeks paid work at living wage starting in November based in Māngere, Auckland.
  • Renowned learning and development sessions fortnightly.
  • An extensive support network - your People Leader, the Talent Team, a Kaiārahi (mentor) and your fellow interns to help you along the way.
  • The opportunity to tackle real-world business problems that help us achieve our aspiration – to help New Zealanders get more out of life.
  • Modern office spaces with free parking, subsidised lunches, flexible working, weekly supplier tastings and regular celebrations.
  • 5% in store and online discount in our supermarkets.

We're looking for someone who is interested in discovering their career with us.

You’ll have a curiosity to learn, a knack for problem solving and be ready to get stuck in to making a positive impact on New Zealand communities. You'll ideally be interested in one of the above areas listed and in our application form, you'll have the opportunity to indicate your preferred roles (you don't necessarily need to be studying something that is aligned).

You'll be working for a New Zealand owned and operated Co-op whose purpose is to help New Zealanders get more out of life.
