Job summary

WM New Zealand is seeking reliable Transfer Station Operators for multiple NZ sites. The role covers safe, efficient operation, customer service, traffic management, site maintenance and equipment handling across Pauanui, Martarangi, Whitianga and Coromandel.

Candidates should have a NZ Class 1 licence, equipment experience, a safety mindset and good communication skills. Full-time and part-time hours available with opportunities for training.

Qualifications

• You will hold a current full Class 1 New Zealand driver licence.
• Experience operating equipment such as loaders, excavators or compactors.
• A strong commitment to health and safety.
• Good communication and customer service skills.
• Basic computer skills.
• Mechanical aptitude and a hands-on approach.
• Initiative, reliability and strong situational awareness.
• A loader or forklift licence would be an advantage.
• A Class 4 licence would be an advantage but is not essential.

Responsibilities

• Directing customers and traffic safely around the transfer station.
• Guiding the correct placement of waste and recyclable materials.
• Operating onsite plant and equipment.
• Helping maximise recycling and reduce waste sent to landfill.
• Keeping buildings, grounds and roadways clean and tidy.
• Completing general labouring and basic administrative duties.
• Maintaining accurate records and paperwork.
• Delivering professional and friendly customer service.
• Following all health, safety and environmental procedures.

Job Description

We have both part-time and full-time opportunities available for reliable and safety-focused Transfer Station Operators at our Pauanui, Martarangi, Whitianga and Coromandel sites.

The role you'll play

You'll help keep the transfer station running safely and efficiently while providing friendly, helpful service to our customers. This is a varied, hands-on position involving customer assistance, traffic management, site maintenance and the operation of plant and equipment.
