Job summary

WM New Zealand is seeking a hands-on Transfer Station Operator at our Queenstown site. You will manage the safe, tidy operation of the transfer station and recycling area, assist customers with enquiries, and uphold a professional company image while delivering high-quality service.

Key responsibilities include directing waste deposits, operating onsite plant and equipment, maintaining facilities, and supporting administration tasks.

Qualifications

• Previous operator experience would be an advantage.
• Forklift (OSH) licence is desirable.
• Endorsements for operating on site machinery are preferred; training will be provided.
• Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team.
• Good level of fitness is required.
• Some experience with computers and systems would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Control the placement of waste and recyclables being deposited by customers.
• Operate onsite plant and equipment, such as loaders and similar heavy equipment.
• Direct traffic and provide general information to customers.
• Maintain all buildings, grounds, roadways, and landscaping in a clean and tidy condition.
• Undertake general labouring duties as required.
• Assist with general administration, completing all records and paperwork as directed.
• Meet targets for recycling and diversion of waste from landfill.

Job Description

In this role, you will have the responsibility for the safe and tidy operation of the transfer station and recycling area and assisting the public with general enquiries, while maintaining a professional image of the company and delivering high-quality customer service.

To be successful in this role:

Additional Information

In return

• $31.00 per hour
• Work with a positive small team.
• 40 hours per week
• Monday - Saturday between 7:30am - 5:00pm
• Permanent full time work
• Based in Queenstown
