Job summary

The Westpac New Zealand platform team is seeking a Platform Engineer on a 9-month contract to support, maintain and improve the OPaaS capability running on dedicated bare-metal infrastructure across production and non-production environments.

You will work within the OPaaS squad providing hands-on OpenShift and Kubernetes administration, automation, and technical guidance for platform services, supporting tooling and incident response to keep services reliable.

Qualifications

Hands-on experience administering Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform v4.15+.
Strong Kubernetes knowledge with OpenShift on bare-metal experience.
Proficient Linux/RHEL administration with scripting skills.
Automation skills using Terraform and Python; GitOps practices.
Experience with monitoring/observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, Splunk).
Familiarity with RBAC, secrets management, and vulnerability remediation.

Responsibilities

Provide hands-on platform administration for Red Hat OpenShift and OPaaS.
Deliver operational support and incident response for production and non-production environments.
Automate platform tasks using Terraform and Python; implement GitOps workflows.
Guide teammates on platform services, tooling, and best practices.
Collaborate in an Agile squad using Jira, Confluence, ServiceNow and Teams.
