Job description

Jora New Zealand will close on 9th September 2026. Thank you for being with us, we are cheering you on as you continue your career journey.

Office Administrator – Join Our Te Hopai Team

Are you an organised, friendly people person who loves keeping things running smoothly? Do you thrive in a busy environment, enjoy a bit of variety, and aren’t afraid to roll up your sleeves and get stuck in?

We’re looking for the right person (or people — we’re open to job sharing and school hours) to join our small but awesome Administration Team at Te Hopai.

This is a 4-day-a-week role, working Friday to Monday, and a full NZ driver licence is essential.

So, what will you be doing?

No two days are quite the same! You’ll be an important part of the team, helping keep our administration humming while providing a warm and welcoming face to everyone who walks through our doors.

You’ll be responsible for things such as:

  • Providing general administration support across Te Hopai.
  • Welcoming visitors and being a friendly first point of contact for residents, families, contractors and staff.
  • Keeping resident files accurate, organised and up to date.
  • Supporting our Chief Executive and Care Managers with day-to-day administration.
  • Assisting with staff rostering and responding to enquiries.
  • Helping with resident admissions and discharges.
  • Taking residents to appointments when required — so being a confident driver is a must!
  • Pitching in wherever needed and looking for ways to make life easier for the team.
  • And, of course, the occasional “can you just…?” moment — because every admin team knows those are inevitable!
What are we looking for?

We’re after someone who is:

  • A team player with a positive, can-do attitude.
  • Organised, reliable and able to manage multiple things at once.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where priorities can change.
  • Friendly, approachable and confident communicating with people from all walks of life.
  • Someone who uses their initiative and doesn’t need to be asked twice.
  • Flexible, adaptable and happy to learn new things.
  • Calm under pressure and able to keep the wheels turning when things get busy.
  • A confident driver with a full NZ driver licence.

You don’t need to know everything on day one — we’ll provide training and support to help you succeed. What matters most to us is your attitude, willingness to learn and ability to work well with others.

A little about us

Te Hopai is one of New Zealand’s largest charitable trusts, and for more than 130 years we’ve been providing quality care and services to older people.

Our residents are at the heart of everything we do. We provide rest home, hospital and dementia-level care, and we’re proud of the reputation we’ve built for delivering quality care in a warm and supportive environment.

We’re a multi-cultural employer that values diversity, and our team is made up of people who genuinely care about making a difference.

Our facility is tucked away behind Wellington Hospital, with beautiful, well-maintained grounds and warm, modern buildings. There’s also free onsite parking — because we know finding a car park in Wellington can sometimes feel like a full-time job in itself!

What’s in it for you?

You’ll be joining a progressive organisation with a supportive team, a friendly atmosphere and a role where the days are varied and your contribution genuinely matters.

If you’re looking for a role where you can use your organisational skills, have a laugh, meet plenty of wonderful people and make a difference along the way, we’d love to hear from you.

Could you be the missing piece of our admin puzzle? We’d love to meet you!
