Job summary

The Doctors Medical Centres are seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Prescriber to join The Doctors Woodham Road acute care team. You will perform autonomous assessments, provide diagnoses and treatments, and prescribe medications for a diverse patient base across all ages.

You will work alongside GPs, nurses, and staff in a supportive, progressive environment. This permanent full-time position offers 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with opportunities for professional development and career

Qualifications

• Current registration with the Nursing Council of New Zealand (NZNC) as a Nurse Practitioner or Prescriber.
• Current CPR certificate is required.
• Advanced clinical nursing skills including smear taking, vaccination, venesection and IV line insertion.
• Ability to practise at an advanced clinical level and strong commitment to primary health care.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with patients, whānau and team members.
• Friendly, proactive, and professional, with a flexible, collaborative approach.

Responsibilities

• Perform autonomous assessments, diagnoses, and treatments for acute primary care.
• Prescribe medications as a Nurse Practitioner or Prescriber.
• Provide same-day and walk-in assessments in a supportive team environment.
• Coordinate with GPs, nurses, and the Medical Centre Manager to ensure smooth patient care.
• Support access to healthcare and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
