Job summary

Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora in Dunedin Hospital is seeking a Nurse Educator for the Main Operating Theatres to lead perioperative education and workforce development.

You will deliver education, teaching and clinical support, building skills in scrub and circulating roles and contributing to organisation-wide education initiatives.

This permanent role offers a flexible mix of 1.0 and 0.8 FTE with a focus on quality, equity and culturally safe practice.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience as a senior OR scrub/circulate RN or AT.
• Postgraduate qualification in perioperative care (certificate/diploma/masters).
• Advanced knowledge of intraoperative care and patient safety.

• Develop and support our perioperative workforce across Main Operating Theatre services.

We have an opportunity for an experienced perioperative RN to further their career, focusing on education, training and development within a passionate perioperative educator team.

About the Role

In this role, you will play a key part in developing and supporting our perioperative workforce across the Main Operating Theatre services. You will provide education, teaching, and clinical support to staff, developing their skills in scrub and circulating roles, particularly for those new to the perioperative environment. You will also contribute to organisation-wide education, leadership and patient-focused initiatives. This is an exciting opportunity to work within a complex clinical environment while supporting the ongoing development of our perioperative workforce.
