Job summary

Pinehill School (Browns Bay) is seeking a caring NZ registered teacher to open a new entrant classroom for cohort 1 of term 4, from 12 October to 18 December 2026. You will lead early years instruction and support literacy and numeracy development.

You will work closely with our Year 1 team, upholding school values and fostering a positive start to schooling for our youngest learners.

Qualifications

• Must be NZ registered and eligible to teach in NZ.
• Experience with primary/early years instruction preferred.
• Knowledge of structured literacy approaches is an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Open and lead a new entrant classroom for cohort 1 of term 4 (Oct 12–Dec 18, 2026).
• Deliver literacy and numeracy instruction with a focus on early years learning.
• Collaborate with Year 1 team to plan and assess student progress.

The successful applicant will be passionate about teaching and learning in the early years, and will share our school values of responsibility, respect, resilience, integrity and excellence. Strengths in literacy and numeracy, along with the mindset to teach structured literacy will be an advantage.

You will be well supported and work closely alongside our amazing year one team of teachers. Starting school is a big step for our youngest learners and we want a teacher who understands this special role.
