Job summary

Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is seeking a Clinical Nurse Educator for the Neonatal Unit at Whangārei Hospital. The role is permanent part-time (0.6 FTE) and focuses on leading education, simulating training, and coaching clinical staff to deliver high-quality neonatal care.

The ideal candidate will have NCNZ registration, a postgraduate qualification or progress towards, and extensive post-registration neonatal experience, with a commitment to safety and quality improvement.

Qualifications

• Registered with the Nursing Council of New Zealand (NCNZ) and a current Annual Practising Certificate (APC).
• Postgraduate Certificate/Diploma or working towards.
• At least 7 years post-registration experience with at least 3 years in a neonatal or relevant specialty.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate education and professional development programmes for neonatal nursing staff.
• Promote evidence-based practice and quality improvement initiatives.
• Facilitate clinical teaching, simulation training, and bedside coaching.
• Assist staff to achieve clinical competencies and career development goals.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to improve neonatal care and patient outcomes.
• Foster a culture of learning, excellence, and continuous improvement.
