Job summary

Head Medical is seeking a doctor currently undertaking core training with a background in paediatrics, PICM, emergency medicine or anaesthetics to join the Waikids Neonatal and Child Health team at Waikato Hospital in Hamilton, New Zealand, on a 12-month contract commencing February 2027.

You will contribute to a 41-bed neonatal unit (including 17 Level 3 beds), develop specialist neonatal skills with experienced clinicians, and participate in clinical education and after-hours duties.

Qualifications

• Doctor currently undertaking core training in paediatrics or related fields.
• Background in PICM, Emergency Medicine or Anaesthetics preferred.
• Experience in neonatal care is advantageous.
• SCBU or neonatal experience is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to the clinical care of newborns across the neonatal service.
• Work alongside neonatal specialists and nurse practitioners.
• Participate in clinical education and develop specialist neonatal skills.
• Join the neonatal roster, including after-hours duties and night shifts.
