Job summary
Industrial Marine Electrical Nelson is seeking an experienced Automation / Control Systems Engineer to join our team, delivering system integration projects across industrial, food & beverage, refrigeration, water treatment, and municipal infrastructure clients in the Nelson/Tasman region.
This role offers varied, technically challenging work with emphasis on PLC programming, SCADA development, and on-site commissioning across multiple platforms and industries.
Qualifications
- Experience in systems integration across multiple client sites and industries.
- Hands-on with Schneider Electric Control Expert (M340/M580) essential.
- Hands-on with AVEVA System Platform essential.
- Exposure to Rockwell and Omron environments is a strong advantage.
- Experience configuring and diagnosing VSDs over Modbus TCP and EtherNet/IP.
- SCADA development experience with Ignition is a plus.
Responsibilities
- Program, configure, and commission PLCs across multiple platforms.
- Develop and maintain SCADA/HMI systems using Ignition and AVEVA System Platform.
- Configure and troubleshoot VSDs over Modbus TCP and EtherNet/IP.
- Read, interpret, and produce electrical schematics and design docs.
- Liaise with clients on site to scope requirements and hand over completed work.
- Contribute to design and delivery of new automation projects.
- Support IoT-based environmental monitoring product development.
