Job summary

Control Synergy Limited in Cambridge, New Zealand, is seeking an experienced controls engineer to drive projects from concept through commissioning. You will design PLC and HMI software using Rockwell and Schneider platforms, configure SCADA tools, and specify control hardware while collaborating with clients and the internal team.

The role involves on-site commissioning, site-based troubleshooting, and ongoing support.

Qualifications

• 3+ years' experience developing control systems from concept through to commissioning
• Strong PLC programming and configuration skills in Rockwell and Schneider
• Solid SCADA/HMI configuration and development in FactoryTalk View, iFIX and InTouch
• Working knowledge of process control: flow, temperature, pressure, level and PID loops
• Experience preparing technical documentation: functional specs, test procedures and commissioning plans
• Excellent communication to deal directly with clients, operators and electricians

CONTROL SYNERGY LIMITED - Cambridge, North Island

You'll help us continue to grow by building on our existing client relationships and developing new ones. Working with clients and the rest of the team, you'll take projects from early concept through detailed design to a commissioned system. Most sites are in the Waikato, with some work further north and elsewhere in New Zealand.

Key responsibilities

Scoping and quoting new work with the client

Developing Grafcet-based FDs

Development of PLC and HMI software: Rockwell and Schneider, FactoryTalk View, GE iFIX and Wonderware/AVEVA InTouch

Designing and specifying control hardware

Commissioning production plant on site

Troubleshooting and technical support for installed systems

About you

3+ years' experience developing control systems from concept through to commissioning, including legacy control systems and modernisation strategies

Strong PLC programming and configuration skills, mostly in Rockwell and Schneider, and the ability to switch easily between platforms

Solid SCADA and HMI configuration and development skills, mostly in FactoryTalk View, iFIX and InTouch, with an eye for detail

A working knowledge of process control: flow, temperature, pressure, level and PID loops

Experience preparing technical documentation: functional specifications, test procedures and commissioning plans

The communication skills and confidence to deal directly with clients, operators and electricians, and to keep the team informed of where things are at

Experience supporting project estimation, planning and delivery

Familiarity with safety, quality and engineering standards

A degree in electrical, mechatronics or a related engineering discipline, or equivalent experience

Dairy processing experience

A full NZ driver's licence
