Job description

Jora New Zealand will close on 9th September 2026. Thank you for being with us, we are cheering you on as you continue your career journey.

My client is a respected New Zealand-based manufacturer and supplier of engineered solutions used within commercial buildings, infrastructure and complex project environments. The business combines local manufacturing capability, technical expertise and a strong reputation for delivering practical, reliable outcomes. Customers include consultants, engineers, contractors, developers, facilities professionals and building owners nationwide.

With ongoing investment in its people, product offering and market presence, the organisation is seeking an experienced National Sales Manager to lead its next phase of commercial growth.

Reporting to the General Manager, you will provide strategic and operational leadership across the national sales function. You will lead a team comprising Regional Sales Managers, Technical Sales and Specification professionals, Product Managers, Product Specialists, and National Key Accounts.

This is a highly influential role with accountability for national sales strategy, commercial performance, customer engagement, product-market alignment and team capability. You will unite teams across Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch, building a culture of accountability, collaboration, commercial discipline and consistent customer focus.

About the role:
  • Develop and execute a national sales strategy aligned with revenue, margin, profitability and long-term business-growth objectives.
  • Lead, coach and develop a high-performing nationwide sales and product-management team.
  • Establish clear expectations, performance plans, development pathways and succession plans.
  • Build a culture of ownership, commercial acumen, collaboration and customer focus.
  • Develop annual sales plans, budgets, forecasts and market-specific growth initiatives.
  • Drive disciplined CRM and sales-process practices, improving pipeline visibility and forecast accuracy.
  • Monitor sales performance, pricing, discounts, rebates and customer agreements to protect margin and profitability.
  • Build senior relationships with national key accounts, consulting engineers, contractors, developers, specifiers, facilities leaders and strategic partners.
  • Identify new-market opportunities, diversification strategies and initiatives that grow national market share.
  • Lead strategic-account growth, customer-retention and customer-experience initiatives across all regions.
  • Partner with product and technical teams to ensure customer insight, market feedback and product strategy remain closely aligned.
  • Work alongside engineering, manufacturing and operations teams to support product development, enhancement and successful commercialisation.
  • Provide market intelligence and competitor insight to support sound strategic decision-making.
  • Lead key commercial projects, support organisational change and identify scalable growth opportunities.
  • Represent the business with industry stakeholders, associations and influential customer networks.
About you:

You are a proven B2B sales leader who can balance strategic thinking with commercial execution. You are equally comfortable developing a national growth plan, coaching sales professionals, reviewing a forecast, negotiating a major customer agreement and influencing internal stakeholders towards a shared commercial outcome.

You will bring:

  • An impressive track record in B2B sales leadership, ideally within a technical, project-based, engineered or specification-led environment.
  • Experience in commercial construction, building services, building automation, engineering, technical manufacturing, infrastructure or a comparable sector.
  • Demonstrated experience leading multi-location sales teams and creating a high-performance culture.
  • Leadership experience across regional management, technical sales professionals, account managers and/or product-management teams.
  • A track record of developing and delivering national sales strategies that achieve sustainable, profitable growth.
  • Strong commercial and financial acumen, including sales planning, budgeting, margin management, forecasting and performance analysis.
  • A strategic, customer-centred mindset, with the ability to identify market opportunities and translate them into practical growth initiatives.
  • Exceptional coaching, people-development and performance-management capability.
  • Credibility and confidence when engaging with senior customers, consulting engineers, contractors, developers, partners and internal leadership.
  • Strong negotiation, influencing, stakeholder-management and relationship-building skills.
  • A disciplined, data-informed approach to CRM, sales-process management and pipeline forecasting.
  • The resilience, accountability and change-leadership capability to guide teams through growth and transformation.
  • A collaborative leadership style that brings together sales, marketing, engineering, manufacturing, operations and service functions.
Benefits:

Why join my client? This is a pivotal leadership appointment with scope to make a visible and lasting contribution to the organisation’s people, customers, products and commercial future.

You will have the opportunity to partner directly with the General Manager and senior leadership team on high-impact commercial and strategic decisions - shaping the national sales strategy, market priorities and future growth agenda.

You'll play a significant part in a collaborative environment supported by strong engineering, manufacturing, technical and operational capability - this really is an attractive career move for many reasons!

Our successful candidate will be rewarded with an attractive remuneration package, dependent on experience.
