Job summary

ACC is seeking a Head of Health Commissioning - Moderate Complexity in New Zealand to lead a national health commissioning service within SC&P. You will drive strategy, supplier performance, and enterprise leadership to deliver equitable health outcomes.

You will influence health and government partners while building a high-performing team across Auckland or Wellington. The role reports to the Deputy Chief Executive and offers a competitive salary of $189,346–$245,036 depending on experience,

Qualifications

• Significant enterprise leadership experience within complex service delivery, health, commissioning, or related environments.
• Strong commissioning, supplier performance management, contract management, or commercial leadership capability.
• Strong financial management, operational leadership, business planning, and performance improvement experience.
• Knowledge of secondary care, rehabilitation, and health sector delivery models.
• Proven experience leading strategic partnerships and influencing senior stakeholders across large organisations and sectors.
• Demonstrated ability to lead through change and build high-performing, customer-focused teams.
• Experience applying Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles within organisational strategy, policy, service design, or delivery.
• Exceptional communication, relationship management, influencing, negotiation, and coaching skills.
• Sound judgement, resilience, and the ability to navigate ambiguity and complexity.

Responsibilities

• Lead a business unit within SC&P responsible for secondary care, vocational assessment and rehabilitation services.
• Roll out ACC's strategy through commissioning excellence, supplier performance management, and engagement with health sector partners.
• Drive system-wide improvements, foster high-performing relationships, and deliver quality and equitable outcomes.
• Influence stakeholders and providers across complex health sector environments.
• Build and lead a high-performing team focused on meaningful outcomes for New Zealanders.
