Job summary

Entec Services in New Zealand is seeking an experienced MV/HV Project Manager to lead the delivery of high-voltage infrastructure and renewable energy projects across the country.

You will blend business development, tendering, technical leadership and project execution to drive safe, on-time and within-budget outcomes while building strong client relationships in NZ's growing energy sector.

About the Role

Entec is seeking an experienced MV/HV Project Manager to lead the delivery of high-voltage infrastructure and renewable energy projects across New Zealand.

This is a pivotal role combining business development, tendering, technical leadership, and project delivery. You'll work on major projects including substations, switchyards, grid connections, solar farms, battery energy storage systems (BESS), and transmission and distribution network upgrades.

From tender evaluation through to project completion, you'll drive safe, efficient, and commercially successful project outcomes while building strong client relationships within New Zealand's growing energy sector.

Key Responsibilities

Project Delivery

• Manage MV/HV infrastructure projects from award through to completion.
• Lead planning, procurement, budgeting, scheduling, and resource coordination.
• Ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to client expectations.
• Oversee commissioning, quality assurance, and stakeholder management.
• Lead the review and assessment of tender opportunities.
• Develop pricing strategies and commercial submissions.
• Manage contracts, variations, risk, and project profitability.
• Support negotiations with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors.

Technical Leadership

Provide technical oversight across:

• HV substations and switchyards
• Grid connection infrastructure
• Transformers and switchgear
• Protection, control and SCADA systems
• Renewable energy and battery storage projects
• Transmission and distribution networks

Business Development

Build and maintain relationships with utilities, renewable energy developers, consultants, and industrial clients.

Identify new project opportunities and contribute to the growth of Entec's MV/HV and renewable energy portfolio.

About You

You are a commercially minded project leader with strong technical expertise in the power and electrical infrastructure sector.

Electrical Engineering qualification, NZCE, NZDE, BE Electrical, BEngTech, or equivalent industry experience.

Minimum 5 years' experience in the power, utilities, or electrical infrastructure sector.

Proven experience delivering MV/HV substation or switchyard projects.

Strong knowledge of electrical infrastructure projects involving 33kV and above.

Experience preparing and managing complex tenders.

Sound contract management and commercial skills.

Experience with grid-scale solar projects and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS).

Experience working with Transpower and electricity network operators.

Familiarity with EPC or Design & Construct contracts.

Knowledge of relevant NZ and Australian electrical standards.
