Job summary

Jora New Zealand is seeking a skilled Motor Mechanic (General) to join the team at the car yard and automotive workshop in Auckland’s North Shore. This role suits an experienced mechanic in a growing automotive business with a modern, professional environment.

Applicants must have at least 2 years’ experience as a motor mechanic or a Level 4+ qualification in Automotive/Mechanical Engineering. The position offers a competitive hourly rate and 40 hours per week.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years’ relevant experience as a Motor Mechanic, OR Level 4+ qualification in Automotive/Mechanical Engineering.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose vehicle faults using modern diagnostic equipment.
• Carry out routine servicing and maintenance.
• Perform minor and major mechanical repairs.
• Inspect and repair engines, transmissions, brakes, steering and suspension systems.
• Test and adjust mechanical components after repairs.
• Identify faults and recommend appropriate repairs.
• Carry out vehicle safety and pre-purchase inspections.
• Prepare vehicles for compliance and roadworthiness requirements.
• Maintain accurate service and repair records.
• Communicate professionally with customers regarding repairs and vehicle condition.
• Maintain workshop tools, equipment and a clean, safe working environment.
