Job summary

Opes Mortgages Ltd in Christchurch is hiring an experienced Mortgage Adviser / Lending Specialist to join our growing team. You will work in a friendly environment, focusing on investor clients and guiding them through the lending journey from pre-approval to settlement.

We offer a strong base salary with bonus, KiwiSaver, carpark, and top-notch support from a collaborative office; hours are 8:30am-5pm, with Zoom meetings and a clear progression path to Senior MA.

Qualifications

• Permanent Resident or NZ Citizen (essential).
• NZ Level 5 Cert in Property Lending (essential).
• Proven experience as a Mortgage Adviser (or Lending Specialist).
• Knowledge of bank policies.
• Strong written and verbal English communication.
• People and admin oriented with compliance focus.
• Tech savvy; comfortable with Zoom and Trail CRM.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality lending advice to investor clients through their property journey.
• Manage the lending process from pre-approval to settlement.
• Conduct ~8 client meetings per week via Zoom.
• Build trusted relationships with clients and lenders.
• Collaborate with a team of advisers and loan writers in Christchurch.

About the Role:

Collaborate in our friendly Christchurch team of 11 reporting directly to the Head of Mortgage Operations. Your role is 8.30am-5pm Monday to Friday (37.5 hours), and involves:

• Providing high-quality advice to support our investor clients through their property purchase journey.
• Managing the lending process from pre-approval to settlement.
• Conducting 8x client meetings per week via Zoom (because our clients have a high conversion rate and you only focus on lending, it's easy to settle $50m per year)!
• Building trusted relationships with clients and lenders, enhancing your industry reputation with a respected company.
• Working alongside a friendly team of advisers and loan writers in a vibrant, collaborative office!

How does the remuneration work?

• Our remuneration goes from $100K to $140K depending on your experience and performance (i.e. Senior MA's = $140K). We will assess where you fit when we interview you.
• The bonus kicks in as soon as you pass your Trial Period and is assessed/paid quarterly (easiest $5k a quarter you can make!)All other benefits available from start date.

• Proven experience as a Mortgage Adviser (or Lending Specialist) (essential)
• You know your bank policies.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate professionally with stakeholders (excellent command of English language written and verbal)
• A true people and admin person
• You value doing the right thing (we have a strong compliance culture and value quality)
• Tech savvy (meetings are 99% Zoom and we use Trail CRM)
