Job summary

JobSpace is seeking a 6-month Fixed Term Technician to join our Microbiology Media Team at the Lynfield Laboratory in Auckland. The successful applicant will prepare media and reagents to support our microbiology laboratories and ensure accurate records for QA/QC.

You should be physically fit with the ability to stand for long periods, and be prepared to work overtime and weekends as required to meet the lab's demand. The role is a hands-on, customer-focused position in a busy commercial lab.

Qualifications

• Experience in a similar environment (Retail or Hospitality is acceptable).
• Passionate about Microbiology as a career.
• Good hand-eye coordination and steady hands.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to work under pressure in a busy lab.
• Excellent time management and organisational skills.
• Clear written and verbal communication.

Responsibilities

• Produce and prepare media and reagents for microbiology laboratories.
• Complete sample testing within given turn-around-time (TAT).
• Maintain accurate records for QA/QC and regulatory procedures.
• Keep work areas clean and organised; participate in safety practices.
• Contribute to day-to-day improvement activities.
• Work as part of a team across the lab and support weekend shifts.
