Placements24 is seeking an experienced Metallurgist to lead process optimization and development at their Welkom facility. You will drive metal recovery improvements, optimize mineral processing flowsheets, and troubleshoot complex metallurgical challenges to maximize value from mined resources.

The role requires a strong background in comminution, flotation, leaching, and refining, plus hands-on plant experience and proficiency with process simulation software.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Metallurgy, Chemical Engineering, or related field.
• 7+ years in mineral processing and extractive metallurgy.
• Strong knowledge of comminution, flotation, leaching and refining.

Responsibilities

• Develop and optimize mineral processing flowsheet parameters to enhance metal recovery and product quality.
• Conduct laboratory test work and pilot plant trials to evaluate new process technologies.
• Analyze plant data, identify process deviations, and implement corrective actions.
• Provide technical support and guidance to plant operators and supervisors.

About the Role

Our client requires an experienced Metallurgist to lead process optimization and development at their facility in Welkom . You will be responsible for improving recovery rates, enhancing operational efficiency, and troubleshooting complex metallurgical challenges. This role is crucial for maximizing the value derived from mined resources and requires a deep scientific understanding combined with practical operational experience in the Free State mining sector.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and optimize mineral processing flowsheet parameters to enhance metal recovery and product quality.
• Conduct laboratory test work and pilot plant trials to evaluate new process technologies.
• Analyze plant data, identify process deviations, and implement corrective actions.

Requirements
