Job summary

AWF Limited in Otago is seeking an experienced Metal Machinist to join our team. The role requires operating and programming CNC machinery to manufacture precision metal components and to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.

You will set up, adjust tooling and machine settings, produce parts to tight tolerances, monitor operations, and perform quality checks with precision instruments. This is a permanent position with steady weekly hours and strong safety focus.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience as a Metal Machinist or equivalent.
• Strong knowledge of CNC machining processes, tooling and techniques.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
• Experience using precision measuring instruments.

Job description

We are seeking an experienced Metal Machinist to join our team in Otago. You should have a good command of English both written and verbal, and experience with operating and programming CNC machinery to manufacture precision metal components.

Key responsibilities include:

• Setting up, programming, and operating CNC machines
• Reading and interpreting engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications
• Selecting, installing, and adjusting cutting tools and machine settings
• Producing precision metal parts to required tolerances and quality standards
• Monitoring machine operations and making necessary adjustments
• Inspecting finished products using measuring instruments and quality control equipment
• Performing routine machine maintenance and troubleshooting equipment issues
• Ensuring compliance with workplace health and safety requirements
• Maintaining accurate production and quality records

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• At least 3 years of relevant experience as a Metal Machinist or similar performing the key responsibilities above
• Strong knowledge of CNC machining processes, tooling, and machining techniques
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
• Experience using precision measuring instruments
