Job summary

Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade in Wellington seeks a Development Adviser in the MERL division to strengthen the evidence base for accountability, learning and development effectiveness across New Zealand's IDC Programme. You will influence policy and investment decisions through evidence-informed analysis.

The role involves delivering strategic evaluations, advising on MERL frameworks, and coordinating evaluation activities across the IDC Programme.

Qualifications

Relevant graduate qualification in international relations, development studies, economics, finance or public policy.
Experience in international development, policy design or programme design.
Experience undertaking monitoring, evaluation, research and learning and applying evidence to decision-making.
Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills with ability to influence across audiences.
Understanding of The Treaty of Waitangi/Te Tiriti and Māori protocols is beneficial.

Responsibilities

Managing and delivering a portfolio of strategic evaluation and research projects.
Providing advice on monitoring, evaluation, research and learning frameworks and methodologies.
Supporting the design of evidence-informed business cases including problem analysis and intervention logic.
Coordinating and supporting activity and project-level evaluations across the IDC Programme.
Promoting the use of evidence and evaluation findings to inform decision-making and policy development.
