Job summary

Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora Waikato Hospital in Hamilton is seeking a Medical Laboratory Technician in Cytogenetics on a permanent part-time basis (20 hours per week). You will join a skilled team delivering karyotyping and FISH processing to support patient care.

You'll work closely with pathologists in a busy diagnostic lab, with opportunities to learn and develop your skills in cytogenetics within a tertiary hospital environment.

Qualifications

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Previous medical laboratory experience is desirable.
• Must be registered, or eligible for registration with the Medical Sciences Council of New Zealand

About the Role

This varied and interesting role primarily involves processing samples for karyotyping and FISH analysis. You will work closely with a team of skilled scientists and pathologists to ensure accurate, high quality results are produced at all times.

About the Team / Service

Our busy medical diagnostic laboratory provides service to Waikato Hospital as well as surrounding satellite hospitals and community based services. Our Cytogenetics department provides a constitutional and acquired diagnostic genetics service including postnatal, FISH / FFPE and haematological testing.
