Job summary

Awanui Labs - Nelson in New Zealand is seeking a Medical Laboratory Scientist to join our Core Lab in a permanent, full-time position with an 80-hour fortnight. You will handle barcoding, receipting and specimen preparation, enter patient and test details, answer calls professionally, and work under pressure with accuracy.

The role requires registration with the Medical Sciences Council of New Zealand and eligibility to work in NZ; on-call rosters may apply.

Qualifications

• Registration with the Medical Sciences Council of New Zealand and an Annual Practising Certificate are required.
• Eligibility to work in New Zealand is required.
• Ability to work in a methodical manner with strict quality guidelines.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.
• Excellent attention to detail and record-keeping.

About the role | Mō te tūranga:

Our Core Lab Department is currently looking for dedicated, enthusiastic and competent Medical Laboratory Scientist. This is a permanent, full-time position with an 80-hour fortnight.

You will be willing to learn new skills, work well alone and as part of a team. Extremely well-organised, detail-oriented, and friendly with a strong focus on quality and customer service. The successful applicant must have a high degree of accuracy and be self-sufficient to excel in this role.

• The ability to work in a methodical manner adhering to strict quality procedure guidelines.

• Excellent attention to detail, with good record-keeping skills.
• The ability to work independently and able to participate in on-call and out-of-hour shifts as per the roster provided.
• Registration with the Medical Sciences Council of New Zealand and a current Annual Practicing Certificate.
• Eligibility to work in New Zealand.
