Job summary

Waitākere Hospital in Auckland is seeking a part-time Medical Imaging Technologist (0.8 FTE) to join the Radiology Team providing general X-ray services and patient care. The role is a parental leave cover until January 2028 and offers varied procedures in a modern department with DR X-ray rooms, Ultrasound and CT, supported by a dedicated PACS team.

Registration with the NZ Medical Radiation Technologists Board and the ability to work autonomously or in a team are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in Medical Imaging or equivalent required.
• Registration with the NZ Medical Radiation Technologists Board.
• Ability to work autonomously and within a team.
• Experience in a PACS environment beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Undertake radiological procedures as part of the Radiology Team.
• Ensure patient comfort and welfare during imaging.
• Work in a department equipped with DR X-ray rooms, Ultrasound and CT with a dedicated PACS team.

About the Role

The Radiology Team at Waitākere Hospital have a temporary vacancy for a Medical Imaging Technologist in General X-ray. This role involves undertaking various radiological procedures and looking after patients comfort and welfare. You will be part of a busy service that will offer you varied and interesting work in a department that is equipped with DR X-ray rooms, Ultrasound, CT, with a dedicated PACS team.

Te Whatu Ora Health New Zealand Waitematā provides health services to approximately 500,000 residents in the North Shore, Waitakere, and Rodney areas. It has the largest population of any health district.

Waitākere Hospital is located at the foot of the magnificent Waitākere Ranges, close to the black volcanic sand beaches of the west coast. We serve mainly the Waitākere and Kaipara populations, seeing around 24,000 patients a year.

About you

• A Bachelor of Health Science in Medical Imaging or equivalent
• Registration with the NZ Medical Radiation Technologists Board and a current APCA culturally sensitive approach and a professional attitude
• The ability to work both autonomously and within a team
• Additionally, having previous experience working as an MIT in a PACS (Picture Archiving and Communications System) environment would be beneficial
