Job summary

Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is seeking a qualified Medical Imaging Technologist to join Lakes District Hospital on a fixed-term, part-time basis (32 hours per week) from 16 November 2026 to 31 December 2027. Based in General X-Ray, you will perform diagnostic imaging with a focus on safety and quality.

The Lakes District Hospital Radiology team works across X-Ray and CT facilities, with rostered shifts 08:00–22:00, Monday–Sunday, plus on-call overnight.

Qualifications

• Current registration and Annual Practising Certificate with the Medical Radiation Technologists Board (MRTB).
• Strong commitment to patient safety, comfort and high-quality imaging.
• Clear and effective communication with patients and colleagues.
• Ability to work independently and within a team.
• Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.

About the Role

An exciting opportunity has become available for a qualified and experienced Medical Imaging Technologist (MIT) to join our team at Lakes District Hospital on a fixed term, part-time basis from 16th November 2026 to 31st December 2027.

This role is based in General X-Ray, and you will be required to conduct Diagnostic Medical Imaging examinations in a safe and professional manner. You will be required to liaise with staff and patients within the Hospital and wider Southern region, so good communication skills are essential. You will need to have a focus on quality and professionalism and be able to work unsupervised.

About the Team/Service/Location

Lakes District Hospital Radiology has both X-Ray and CT facilities which you will be working across if you are qualified to do so. The hours of work are currently rostered shifts Monday - Sunday from 0800 - 2200 plus on call overnight.
